i can't say how excited we are to announce something that we've literally been working on since we took over NIGHTLIGHT 4 years ago: AMERICAN FOLK TREASURE MICHAEL HURLEY !!! it's truly a dream come true to be bringing Michael back to the NIGHTLIGHT... 2 NIGHTS !!! 2 DIFFERENT SETS !!! with different openers each night. spead the word!
MICHAEL HURLEY - born in Pennsylvania, Hurley began writing songs at the age of 13 and recorded his first LP when he was 22, for Folkways in 1965. he was an important part of the Greenwich folk scene in the '60s and '70s releasing a string of excellent records for the likes of Rounder and others, many of which were decorated with his own paintings and drawings. he also collaborated with the Holy Modal Rounders and Jeffery Frederick & the Clamtones to create one of the most amazing weirdo, outsider folk records of all time, "Have Moicy!". he has continued on his path, traveling, playing, making simple-but-powerful records about food, animals, and life... his early work has seen a flurry of semi-recent reissues by labels like Mississippi and Light in the Attic and we're all very lucky that Hurley is still out there doing what he's always done. please don't miss this rare chance to see a master at work.
